On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, an online meeting of the vice-rector for science of VSPNU, prof. Valentyna Yakubiv, employees of International Relations Office and Scientific Research Department, with Karen Blackney, Head of the International Department at the University of East Anglia, and Matthias Neumann, Senior Lecturer in History at the University of East Anglia. The meeting was moderated by Anzhela Stashchak, project manager of the leading transnational educational consulting company Cormack Consultancy Group.
The meeting took place within the framework of the “Twinning” program, which is aimed at establishing cooperation between Ukrainian higher education institutions and European universities, the restoration and development of Ukrainian universities during the war, as well as in the long term – at the formation of partnerships and alliances for joint work and further mutual internationalization.
During the meeting, the scientific and educational potential of the universities was presented and prospects for further cooperation were discussed, in particular, academic exchanges of teaching staff and students, development of scientific cooperation and joint grant projects. It was also about the organization of symposia, summer schools, double degree programs, mentoring and the possibility of supporting VSPNU in the conditions of Russian military aggression.
The University of East Anglia is a classical university with 50,000+ students, 18% of whom are international. Its scientific potential covers almost all fields of research, the most powerful of which are development studies, research in the fields of ecology and humanities, creative writing, etc. Following the meeting, representatives of the British university reported that UEA is determined to have a fruitful and long-term partnership with PNU.
Further steps to establish international cooperation between UEA and VSPNU will be discussed at the next meetings, which will take place in the near future.
