What are Jean Monnet’s goals?
Jean Monnet’s direction is to promote excellence in teaching and research in European Studies worldwide. It also seeks to foster dialogue between the academic community and policymakers, in particular with a view to strengthening governance, better formulating and implementing EU policies.
European studies include the study of Europe as a whole, with particular emphasis on European integration processes in their internal and external aspects. This area of expertise also covers the role of the EU in a globalized world, the promotion of active European citizenship and dialogue between people and cultures.
This area of expertise includes the following subject areas:
- EU and comparative regional studios;
- Communicative and informational dimensions of European studies;
- Economic dimensions of European studies;
- Historical dimensions of European studies;
- Intercultural dialogue in the EU;
- Interdisciplinary European Studies;
- EU international relations and diplomacy;
- EU law studios;
- Political and administrative aspects of European studies.
In addition, various subject areas (such as sociology, philosophy, religion, geography, literature, art, natural sciences, ecology, global studies, etc.) may also be related to this field of knowledge if they include elements of teaching, research, or comprehension. the role of the EU and in general contribute to the Europeanisation of curricula. Comparative studios will only be considered if they relate to the various integration processes taking place in the world.
